Inauguration of Shanto-Mariam-Honghe Confucius Classroom and Bangladesh-China University Students’ Art Exhibition and prize distribution ceremony were held today. Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology and Honghe University in China are joint institutions that established this collaborative classroom for teaching Chinese language and culture in Bangladesh.
Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh H.E. Yao Wen and Additional Foreign Secretary (Bilateral-East and West) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr Nazrul Islam, senior diplomats of the Chinese Embassy and top representatives of both Bangladeshi and Chinese partner universities were present on the occasion.
Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Shanto-Mariam University Professor Mostafizul Haque, Council Chairman of Honghe University of China Professor Hong Bo, among others, were present as the main organizers of the event. Chinese language teachers from Confucius Institute of Dhaka University and North South University and representatives of Chinese nationals involved in business in Bangladesh were also present on the occasion.
The two-part event began with the unveiling of a plaque of Confucius Classroom at 3pm at The Zam Zam Convention Center in Uttara in the capital. In the second phase, an art exhibition of Bangladeshi and Chinese university students was inaugurated. Then there was the prize distribution. The event concluded with colorful cultural performances by Chinese and Bangladeshis artists.
