Promoting Healthcare Access for the Underprivileged
Guided by the visionary leadership of Chairman Dr. Md. Ahsanul Kabir, the Shanto-Mariam Foundation has embarked on a courageous mission to bolster healthcare facilities across the country, aiming to provide crucial medical services to disadvantaged people. The foundation’s prominent initiatives include extending medical support. This commitment has been backed by generous contributions, illustrating the unwavering dedication to help people with health crisis and to support health care facilities.
During the span from December 2022 to March 2023, with the financial support from the Shanto-Mariam Foundation, the Ibrahim Cardiac Centre achieved a remarkable feat by successfully treating three critically ill paediatric patients through open-heart bypass surgeries. Notably, among these cases was a one-year-old female child who underwent a rare heart surgery to mend multiple congenital heart defects.
Beyond their engagement with the cardiac centre, the foundation’s impact reached to the National Institute of Kidney Diseases and Urology. As a direct result of their financial support, four kidney cancer patients hailing from Gazipur, Barisal, and Mymensingh underwent successful surgeries, thereby offering renewed hope and a chance at a healthier life.
The foundation’s commitment extends further as they generously donated state-of-the-art ventilators to enhance the capabilities of the ICU facility at BIRDEM. This act of benevolence stands as a tribute to the revered founding Chairman, the late Md. Imamul Kabir Shanto, and perfectly embodies the empathetic ideals of the SMF. In line with the compassionate ethos, the foundation has extended philanthropic reach to numerous medical institutions through valuable contributions of essential medical supplies. One of those is Shanti Cancer Foundation, which received support in their fight against cancer with medical supplies.
In addition to these endeavors, the foundation has taken substantial strides in aiding the community.
An awareness program highlighting hydrocephalus was conducted, aiming to educate the public about its causes, symptoms, types, and preventive measures. The foundation’s commitment does not stop there. In addition, in a campaign to address eye care, it provided eye examinations and surgeries to nearly three hundred impoverished individuals in dire need of visual healthcare. This inspiring journey continues as more patients eagerly await surgeries, underscoring the profound impact of the Shanto-Mariam Foundation’s financial support and collaboration.
